About The Position

The primary function of this position is to perform advanced mechanical repairs and assembly on compact construction, aerial and allied equipment by troubleshooting and using various diagnostic equipment. This role involves using manuals, repair manuals, parts manuals, and parts diagrams to independently troubleshoot and repair construction equipment. The technician will utilize lift trucks, overhead cranes, and other aids to move parts for repair. They will use hand and power tools for removal, installation, rebuilding, repair, and testing of equipment components. Additionally, the role requires using miscellaneous resources and computers for parts referencing, information gathering, and data entry. The technician will disassemble/reassemble parts, clean components, use test equipment for diagnostics, and control powered equipment. Climbing onto, under, and into vehicles is necessary for access. The role also involves using overhead hoists, lift devices, and forklifts to move heavy parts for disassembly, repair, and reassembly. Responsibilities include performing inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairing engines, powertrains, hydraulic, and electrical components. The technician will also use power washers and spray paint equipment for cleaning and painting, and instruments and computers to reprogram equipment controllers.

Requirements

• High school education or GED.
• Four years of work experience.
• At least two years of experience with CAT equipment.
• Proficiency in at least two mechanical systems (e.g., transmissions, engines, hydraulics) for numerous model lines.
• Ability to daily and repeatedly stoop, kneel, bend, and climb beside, onto, and underneath various equipment.
• Ability to effectively see to perform repairs, research technical manuals, and develop written repair work order reports.
• Ability to routinely and physically lift/position various parts up to 112 pounds and use mechanical hoists for heavier parts.
• Ability to effectively write repair activities on customer work orders.
• Cognitive reasoning and problem-solving skills to apply knowledge, written information, and verbal instructions in repairing/servicing unusual or unknown technical equipment operational problems.
