About The Position

Carter Machinery Company, the authorized Caterpillar dealer serving Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and Washington D.C. is hiring an Inside Sales Representative for their Rental Division in Baltimore, Maryland. The Rental Inside Sales Representative is responsible for managing incoming rental portal inquiries and making outbound calls to customers seeking rental sales opportunities ensuring each customer receives fast, professional service. The individual in this role will work closely with the Territory Sales Representatives and local store teams to satisfy leads and customer inquiries. The Rental Inside Sales Representative is critical to the day-to-day execution of the rental business to reach acceptable sales and profit levels.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Self-starter able to work in a fast-paced environment with limited supervision.
  • Exceptional customer satisfaction skills and the ability to build solid relationships.
  • Excellent written, verbal and telephone communication skills.
  • Technical aptitude.
  • Understand and practice effective sales techniques.
  • Computer skills, including Microsoft products and other applications as needed.
  • Ability to learn Caterpillar’s “Dealer Business System” (DBS) and related rental software programs.
  • Ability to work additional hours to meet customer and business demands.
  • Ability to multitask, have good organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks with competing demands.
  • Ability to work in a high volume, fast-paced environment.
  • Regularly required to sit and talk or hear.
  • Frequently required to stand, walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.
  • May occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus.
