About The Position

This position involves skilled inspection work doing inspections of rental housing units located within the City of Bay City in compliance with the International Property Maintenance Code and all applicable codes, ordinances, standards and regulations. Responsibilities include the performance of both technical field and office work in carrying out assigned duties. Inspectors must use considerable independent judgment and discretion in the performance of their duties.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Possession and maintenance of a valid State of Michigan driver's license.
• Regular in-person attendance on the days and times scheduled.
• High level of mental alertness and integrity.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections of rental housing units in compliance with the International Property Maintenance Code and all applicable codes, ordinances, standards and regulations.
• Perform technical field and office work.
• Use considerable independent judgment and discretion in the performance of duties.
• Participate in classes and on-going training sessions relative to the codes and inspections.
• Obtain and maintain the level of proficiency specified and required for the position.
