About The Position

The rental equipment service technician inspects, cleans, repairs, and performs preventative maintenance on a variety of rental equipment. This role also involves significant customer interaction, including assisting with rentals, answering questions, resolving concerns, and advising on solutions. The technician will also be responsible for maintaining service records, assisting with administrative tasks, and ensuring the rental area is clean, organized, and safe. Additionally, the role may require assisting in other store areas like the lumber yard and inside the store, as well as performing general store maintenance and opening/closing duties.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Strong mechanical skills/expertise
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to obtain Stihl Certification

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, clean, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on rental equipment.
  • Provide excellent customer service, greeting and assisting customers in a positive manner.
  • Answer customer questions and resolve concerns.
  • Advise customers on solutions to projects and problems, offering add-on sales when appropriate.
  • Perform customer service tasks such as cutting keys, filling propane, running the register, and assisting with rental transactions.
  • Provide services at the point of sale, including running the register, bagging items, assisting with loading products, and answering inquiries.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance on equipment (oiling, filter changes, etc.).
  • Conduct repairs and maintenance on rental equipment, generating purchase orders as needed.
  • Purchase small tools and supplies for equipment repair.
  • Inspect equipment regularly to comply with company safety policies.
  • Demonstrate proper equipment usage and loading/unloading techniques to customers.
  • Maintain service records.
  • Assist in updating DMV registration and current insurance.
  • Check out customers at the rental counter, completing contracts, taking payment, and instructing on equipment use.
  • Help load and unload equipment as needed.
  • Deliver and pick up rental equipment as needed.
  • Check equipment for damage, fuel levels, and missing parts in the presence of the customer.
  • Service and conduct repairs on Stihl equipment.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe rental area.
  • Perform opening and closing duties as assigned.
  • Conduct store maintenance as needed, including cleaning common areas, trash removal, sweeping parking lots and sidewalks, and snow removal.
  • Assist in the lumber yard and inside the store as needed.
  • Ensure a safe working environment and maintain situational awareness.
  • Identify and report any safety issues or concerns to management.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties assigned as necessary.
