About The Position

Banister Nissan of Chesapeake is part of a respected automotive group serving the Hampton Roads area. We're looking for a dependable, customer-focused Rental Clerk to join our team on a part-time basis. The Rental Clerk manages the dealership's rental vehicle fleet, assisting customers with rentals while their vehicles are serviced and ensuring smooth, accurate transactions from check-in to check-out.

Requirements

  • Previous customer service experience required
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Comfortable using basic computer systems and dealership software.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented.

Nice To Haves

  • Dealership or rental experience a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and assist customers renting vehicles, explaining rental terms, rates, and policies clearly.
  • Process rental agreements, collect required documentation (driver's license, insurance), and handle payments accurately.
  • Inspect vehicles for damage and document mileage and fuel levels before and after rentals.
  • Coordinate with the service department to schedule rentals around customer service appointments.
  • Maintain the rental fleet, including tracking availability, scheduling cleaning/detailing, and flagging maintenance needs.
  • Keep accurate rental records and files, both digital and physical.
  • Communicate with the service advisor team and other departments to keep operations running smoothly.
  • Answer phone calls and respond to rental inquiries in a professional, friendly manner.
