About The Position

Home Forward is seeking a limited duration Rent Assistance Services Coordinator with strong customer service and communication skills, including the ability to convey information clearly and concisely. The ideal candidate is reliable, responsive, and consistently shows up ready to contribute. This position is funded through and scheduled to conclude on June 30, 2027. The Rent Assistance Services Coordinator (RASC) is responsible for coordinating and operating rent assistance programs for eligible individuals and families to support housing stability for people in our community. This role involves assessing client eligibility: conducting interim and annual eligibility reviews; coordinating housing inspections and contracting with housing providers; providing information and guidance to applicants, participants and landlords regarding Home Forward and HUD policies, procedures, rules, and regulations; and performing a variety of technical and administrative tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility. This particular role will support our Project Based Voucher (PBV) team by supporting referrals into HUD-funded project-based permanent supportive housing (PSH). In addition to the duties described above, a successful incumbent will: Efficiently process CA referrals into project-based PSH. Collaborate with HSD PSH and CA teams to identify and pursue system and project-level changes to reduce PSH turnover and wait times. Communicate regularly and attend project-specific initial lease up meetings, regular check-ins, and other intermittent, project-specific meetings with HSD to review program progress and work to solve any challenges that may arise. Create clear and prescriptive timelines and communication expectations for each step of the referral and lease-up process. Attend monthly HSD CA Case Conferencing meetings to provide real time support for pending applications and referrals. Provide training and technical assistance to contracted service providers and property owners/managers regarding Home Forward’s PBV enrollment process and paperwork. In this context, the incumbent in this position will collaborate with others at all levels of the organization and with external stakeholders in the consideration of significant goals, concepts, initiatives, and other activities that profoundly affect Home Forward, its employees, and the people that it serves. This is a limited duration role with compensation beginning at $33.16 per hour and is represented by AFSCME Local 3135. Requirements

  • Three (3) years of increasingly responsible social work or social services experience with an emphasis on direct client work with individuals/families, case coordination, and program development.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in social work, social services, or a related field preferred.
  • A related degree may substitute for work experience requirement.
  • Knowledge, skills, and experience may be gained through lived experience as well as education, professional experience, volunteering, or other means.
