About The Position

This is a full-time position responsible for processing licensure renewal applications and issuing licenses for temporary and initial registered nurse and licensed practical nurse applicants. The role serves as the first point of contact for licensees and applicants via telephone, email, and walk-ins. Key duties include analyzing licensure data to ensure compliance with the Nurse Practice Act and Multistate Licensure Compact Rules, performing required notifications, and making corrections in the licensure database and the National Council of State Boards licensure database (NURSYS). This position is critical to the Board's mission of advancing safe quality care and public protection in Maryland.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
  • One year of administrative staff or professional work.
  • Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university for the required experience.
  • Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work that included regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting complex administrative plans, policies, rules or regulations or analysis of operational programs or procedures with recommendations for improvement on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
