About The Position

The Renewables Maintenance Technician position leads the installation, overhaul, and maintenance of complex production machinery and facility systems, ensuring alignment with operational goals and strict safety standards. The position is responsible for responding to critical and time‑sensitive maintenance issues, coordinating emergency repairs and scheduled service activities across production and mobile equipment across our Grain/Logistics and Ethanol Production operations. Leveraging expertise in mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems, the role focuses on troubleshooting, diagnosing root causes, and executing precise repairs to maintain efficient production. It requires the ability to interpret technical documentation such as schematics, blueprints, and OEM manuals to perform high‑quality maintenance work. The role also oversees preventive maintenance programs, utilizing CMMS systems to track work orders, manage inventory, and support data‑driven decision making. In addition, this position serves as a safety leader, promoting compliance, and contributing to cross‑functional initiatives that improve overall plant efficiency and reliability.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
  • 3-5 years’ relevant experience required
  • Demonstrated understanding of plant systems and equipment, including but not limited to grain handling systems, processing machinery, industrial dryers, pumps, centrifuges, electrical installations, and basic Programmable Logic controller (PLC) programming
  • Knowledge of the design principles, operation and maintenance of pneumatic and hydraulic systems, including the ability to interpret related schematics and apply appropriate troubleshooting methods
  • Demonstrated knowledge of basic electrical theory and technical skills, including the proficient use of appropriate tools, materials, and diagnostic equipment such as voltage meters, megohmmeters (meggers), and ammeters
  • Ability to perform basic welding using arc, MIG, and/or TIG welding techniques
  • Proficient in troubleshooting AC and DC electrical systems, including power distribution networks, control panels, and electric motors, as well as adjusting and calibration instrumentation associated with process equipment
  • Skilled in the use of precision measurement tools, including but not limited to laser alignment systems, calipers, dial indicators, and vibration analysis tools
  • Ability to read, interpret and apply information from Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), electrical schematics, and technical drawings
  • Capable of safely operating industrial equipment including scissor lifts, aerial lifts (e.g., JLG) forklift, telehandlers (e.g., SkyTrak), front-end loader and Skid steer loaders (e.g., Bobcat)

Responsibilities

  • Lead the installation, overhaul, and maintenance of complex production machinery and facility systems, ensuring alignment with operational goals and rigorous safety standards
  • Take ownership of critical and time-sensitive maintenance issues by swiftly responding to emergency repairs and coordinating scheduled service activities across production equipment, mobile machinery, and vehicles
  • Leverage advanced expertise in mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems to troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues, ensuring continuous and efficient production operations
  • Analyze and interpret detailed technical documentation—including schematics, blueprints, and OEM manuals—to plan and execute high-precision maintenance and repair tasks
  • Perform in-depth diagnostics to identify root causes of equipment malfunctions, carry out complex repairs or component replacements, and execute validation testing to restore full operational integrity
  • Oversee and execute comprehensive preventative maintenance routines on plant infrastructure and equipment, contributing to asset longevity and minimized downtime
  • Utilize the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to document work orders, manage parts inventory, and generate performance reports to support data-driven maintenance strategies
  • Serve as a safety ambassador by upholding and promoting compliance with all safety policies and regulations, proactively identifying hazards, and mentoring others in safe work practices
  • Support cross-functional plant initiatives, offering technical guidance and contributing to continuous improvement efforts aimed at increasing operational efficiency and equipment reliability
