About The Position

Ulteig is seeking a Renewables Civil Designer to support the land development of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) projects. The designer collaborates with civil, structural, and electrical design teams and clients to deliver design solutions for BESS development, design, and construction projects across the country. Working with project engineers, the designer completes detailed civil design, applies industry standards, identifies potential design issues, and helps develop and refine design and drafting standards. The work is primarily performed in AutoCAD Civil 3D and emphasizes road layout, mass site grading, earthwork takeoffs, stormwater plans, and erosion and sediment control plans. The role calls for creativity, independence, effective client communication, and close collaboration with other disciplines and engineering staff.

Requirements

Associate or technical degree in Engineering Technology or equivalent.
Six to eight years of progressive experience in a civil engineering technician role, with three to four or more years of experience designing large land development projects.
Demonstrated proficiency and working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D.
Proficiency in large-scale site grading design, additions to existing civil designs, and earthwork calculations.
Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.
Excellent presentation and verbal and written communication skills.
Analytical, self-motivated, and able to work in high-pressure situations while maintaining a positive, enthusiastic attitude.
Authorization to work permanently in the United States.

Responsibilities

Complete detailed civil design solutions on assigned projects in collaboration with the project engineer.
Apply industry design standards on development projects and coach others on the team.
Use prior design experience to proactively address potential design issues.
Help develop and refine project design and drafting standards.
Practice efficiency engineering when selecting designs.
Work closely with engineering technicians and experienced engineers.
Design primarily in AutoCAD Civil 3D, with emphasis on road layout, mass site grading, earthwork takeoffs, stormwater, and erosion and sediment control plans.
Communicate and interact effectively with clients to ensure their needs are met.
Collaborate with other disciplines on multidisciplinary projects.
