This position is onsite at our Aratina 1 Solar Site located in Boron, California. Each Renewable Energy Technician will attend mandatory four (4) week training and certification course at the start of their employment. The exact duration will be determined based on experience and qualifications. The training is in Albert Lea, MN, and travel, accommodation, and expenses will be provided.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Basic computer skills; ability to follow instructions (Technician 1).
  • Knowledge of schematics, multi-meters, and electrical/mechanical components (Technician 2).
  • Deep competency in generation theory, arc flash standards, NEC, and diagnostics (Technician 3).
  • Ability to complete all required training upon hire (Technician 1).
  • Must meet Qualified Electrical Worker standards (Technician 2).
  • Qualified Electrical Worker standards + system software & industry competency (Technician 3).
  • Work is primarily conducted 100% in the renewable asset field for Techs 1-3.
  • Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and structures to heights of over 300 feet (91 meters) and work at those heights and in confined spaces.
  • Comfortable working in extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, wind, rain) and in an electrical-mechanical environment with high voltage/stored energy.
  • Ability to regularly lift up to 35 pounds and frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Maximum employee weight must not exceed 285 lbs (due to weight restrictions for fall-arrest equipment).

Nice To Haves

  • Technician 3 is expected to have knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems in a renewable energy asset.
  • Technician 3 demonstrates proficiency in using advanced diagnostic tools, understanding of system software, and familiarity with the latest industry standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform unsupervised field maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on one or more types of renewable energy generators.
  • Full system installation, commissioning, maintenance, system performance evaluation and troubleshooting of power and energy systems.
  • Technician 3 may lead teams on routine tasks.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols, including LOTO (Lockout/Tagout) procedures, and lead site safety assessments.
  • Maintain company property and equipment safely and responsibly.
  • Accurately complete all administrative work, including daily maintenance logs, work orders, time tracking, and warranty/inventory documentation.
  • Attend all required safety and technical training.
  • Maintain the highest level of system integrity and support site budget control by seeking efficiencies.
  • Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation for system monitoring and fault identification (Technicians 2-5).
  • Be fiscally responsible on the company's behalf.
