About The Position

EDF Renewables North America is seeking dedicated and talented individuals for roles ranging from entry-level Technician 1 to expert Technician 4 to perform maintenance, repair, and operational activities on utility-scale renewable energy assets, including wind turbines, Photovoltaic (PV) power systems, and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). Candidates will be placed at the level commensurate with their experience, qualifications, and successful completion of internal competency standards. Each Renewable Energy Technician will attend a mandatory 3-4 week training and certification course at the start of their employment. The exact duration will be determined based on experience and qualifications. The training is in Albert Lea, MN, and travel, accommodation, and expenses will be provided. This position is onsite in Vega, Texas. Requirements

  • 0 to 1 year in renewable energy or equivalent field (Tech 1).
  • 1 to 2 years in renewable energy or similar discipline (Tech 2).
  • 2+ years renewable energy experience (Tech 3).
  • 2-4 years of renewable energy experience (Tech 4).
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic computer knowledge; ability to follow instructions (Tech 1).
  • Basic knowledge of schematics, multi-meter use, and electrical/mechanical components (Tech 2).
  • Deep competency in generation theory. Advanced knowledge of electrical safety, arc flash standards, and NEC. Proficiency with advanced diagnostic tools (Tech 3).
  • Advanced working knowledge of wind/ solar industry best practices and the ability to effectively coach, instruct, and train less experienced technicians (Tech 4).
  • Ability to complete all required training upon hire.
  • Must meet Qualified Electrical Worker standards (Tech 2-4).
  • Must meet Qualified Electrical Worker standards and have competency in system software and industry standards (Tech 3-4).
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Work is primarily conducted 100% in the renewable asset field for Techs 1-3. Tech 4 may spend approximately 20% of time in the office environment.
  • Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and structures to heights of over 300 feet (91 meters) and work at those heights and in confined spaces.
  • Comfortable working in extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, wind, rain) and in an electrical-mechanical environment with high voltage/stored energy.
  • Ability to regularly lift up to 35 pounds and frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Maximum employee weight must not exceed 285 lbs (Wind only).

Nice To Haves

  • Works under specific direction and direct supervision (Technician 1).
  • Responsible for independent preventative maintenance. Participates in the 24-hour "On Call" rotation (Technician 2).
  • Unsupervised execution of all corrective/preventative maintenance. May train and oversee Techs 1 & 2 (Technician 3).
  • Trains and signs off on the competency of Techs 1-3 (Technician 4).
  • Assists with overseeing site crews/contractors in manager absence (Technician 4).

Responsibilities

  • Assists experienced technicians with maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs. Focuses on learning and applying safety protocols.
  • Performs preventative maintenance independently and conducts routine troubleshooting, repairs, and minor upgrades.
  • Performs unsupervised routine and corrective maintenance, advanced troubleshooting, and leads teams on routine tasks.
  • Performs unsupervised advanced corrective and preventative maintenance and leads major repairs. Acts as a subject matter expert (SME).
  • Adhere to all safety protocols, including LOTO (Lockout/Tagout) procedures, and lead site safety assessments.
  • Maintain company property and equipment safely and responsibly.
  • Accurately complete all administrative work, including daily maintenance logs, work orders, time tracking, and warranty/inventory documentation.
  • Attend all required safety and technical training.
  • Maintain the highest level of system integrity and support site budget control by seeking efficiencies.
  • Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation for system monitoring and fault identification (Technician levels 2-4).
  • Train and sign off on the competency of Techs 1-3 (Technician 4).
  • Assist with overseeing site crews/contractors in manager absence (Technician 4).
