About The Position

Riverview Regional Medical Center, a member of Prime Healthcare in Gadsden, Alabama, is seeking a Medical Surgical Registered Nurse for its Medical Surgical Acute 5T department. The nurse provides comprehensive care to patients recovering from surgery, managing acute or chronic illnesses, or undergoing diagnostic procedures. The role is full-time, on the day shift, with hours from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. A shift differential of $2–$4 is listed. A sign-on bonus of $15,000 is available to qualified candidates; eligibility and payout terms apply, with details discussed during the interview process. New graduates are welcome.

Requirements

• Current and valid state RN license.
• Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintained thereafter.
• Current ACLS certificate within 30 days of hire and maintained thereafter is preferred.
• New graduates are welcome.

Nice To Haves

• Previous acute care hospital experience.
• Ventilator management experience.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
• Current ACLS certificate within 30 days of hire and maintained thereafter.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough initial assessments and ongoing evaluations of patients' physical, emotional, and mental health.
• Monitor vital signs, intake and output, and other clinical indicators to detect changes in patient conditions.
• Recognize and act on warning signs of deterioration, including changes in heart rate, respiratory rate, or mental status.
• Safely administer prescribed oral, IV, subcutaneous, and intramuscular medications and monitor for adverse effects or allergic reactions.
• Act as a liaison among patients, families, and the healthcare team to ensure patient needs are met.
• Educate patients about their conditions, treatment options, and lifestyle adjustments to support recovery and prevent readmission.
• Communicate with doctors, specialists, physical therapists, and social workers to develop and adjust care plans.
• Document care using Epic computer charting.
