About The Position

SAIC is seeking Full-time Remote Pilot Operator (RPO) candidates to join the Controller Training Solutions (CTS) team at the Newark ATCT (EWR) in Newark, NJ. This role supports air traffic controller training services for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The RPO simulates the actions and communication of pilots and remote ATC facilities within an air traffic control training simulator. This involves operating a simulated radar display and voice communication system, receiving voice commands from students, inputting entries to simulate pilot actions, translating displayed information into ATC terminology, and responding to students using proper phraseology. The position requires the completion of specific certifications, including a classroom test on airspace and procedures, and a lab performance evaluation as a Remote Pilot Operator on all positions. The FAA is dedicated to ensuring a high level of safety and professionalism in air traffic control, relying on a well-trained workforce to manage over 50,000 aircraft daily in the National Airspace System (NAS). SAIC provides essential contractor-provided instructional services to meet the FAA's training needs for new and current air traffic control specialists across various facilities.

Requirements

• Must be able to complete required certifications: Classroom (pass test on airspace and procedures) and Lab (perform as a Remote Pilot Operator on all positions).

Responsibilities

• Operate a combination of a simulated radar display and voice communication system to simulate the actions and communication of pilots and remote ATC facilities during medium and high-fidelity training exercises.
• Receive voice commands from students.
• Input proper entries into the automated system to simulate pilot actions.
• Translate displayed information into appropriate ATC terminology.
• Respond to the student via the VCS utilizing proper phraseology.
• Complete required certifications: Classroom (pass test on airspace and procedures) and Lab (perform as a Remote Pilot Operator on all positions).
