CLT Remote Pilot Operator
About The Position
SAIC is seeking Full-time Remote Pilot Operator (RPO) candidates to join the Controller Training Solutions (CTS) team at the Charlotte ATCT (CLT) in Charlotte, NC. This role supports air traffic controller training services for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The RPO simulates the actions and communication of pilots and remote ATC facilities within an air traffic control training simulator. This involves operating a simulated radar display and voice communication system during medium and high-fidelity training exercises. The RPO will receive voice commands from students, input simulated pilot actions into the automated system, translate displayed information into appropriate ATC terminology, and respond to students using proper phraseology via the Voice Communication System (VCS). The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is dedicated to ensuring a high level of safety and professionalism from air traffic control specialists, recognizing that a well-trained workforce is crucial. The FAA employs over 14,000 air traffic controllers who manage the separation of more than 50,000 aircraft daily in the National Airspace System (NAS). To meet training needs, the FAA utilizes contractor-provided instructional services across its facilities in the U.S. and its Territories. SAIC's role is to provide comprehensive training and support services to prepare students to become fully certified air traffic controllers, covering all types and levels of ATC facilities.
Requirements
- Must be able to complete Classrom certification (pass test on airspace and procedures).
- Must be able to complete Lab certification (perform as a Remote Pilot Operator on all positions).
Responsibilities
- Operate a combination of a simulated radar display and voice communication system to simulate the actions and communication of pilots and remote ATC facilities during medium and high-fidelity training exercises.
- Receive voice commands from students.
- Input proper entries into the automated system to simulate pilot actions.
- Translate displayed information into appropriate ATC terminology.
- Respond to the student via the VCS utilizing proper phraseology.
- Complete required certifications: Classroom (pass test on airspace and procedures) and Lab (perform as a Remote Pilot Operator on all positions).
