About The Position

SAIC is seeking Full-time Remote Pilot Operator (RPO) candidates to join the Controller Training Solutions (CTS) team at the Nashville ATCT / TRACON (BNA) in Nashville, TN. This role supports air traffic controller training services for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The RPO simulates the actions and communication of pilots and remote ATC facilities within an air traffic controller training simulator. This involves operating a simulated radar display and voice communication system during medium and high-fidelity training exercises. RPOs will receive voice commands from students, input entries into the automated system to simulate pilot actions, translate displayed information into appropriate ATC terminology, and respond to students via the VCS using proper phraseology. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is responsible for ensuring a high level of safety and professionalism from air traffic control specialists, and a well-trained workforce is crucial for this. The FAA employs over 14,000 air traffic controllers who manage aircraft separation in the National Airspace System (NAS). To meet training needs, the FAA utilizes contractor-provided instructional services across various ATC facilities in the U.S. and its territories. SAIC provides training and support services for all types and levels of ATC facilities to prepare students to become fully certified air traffic controllers.

Requirements

• Must be able to complete required certifications: Classroom (pass test on airspace and procedures) and Lab (perform as a Remote Pilot Operator on all positions).
• This is NOT a UAS / UAV / RPV / DRONE pilot position.

Responsibilities

• Operate a simulated radar display and voice communication system to simulate the actions and communication of pilots and remote ATC facilities during training exercises.
• Receive voice commands from students.
• Input proper entries into the automated system to simulate pilot actions.
• Translate displayed information into appropriate ATC terminology.
• Respond to the student via the VCS utilizing proper phraseology.
• Complete required certifications, including a classroom test on airspace and procedures and a lab performance as a Remote Pilot Operator on all positions.
