About The Position

The Novelis Greensboro team is seeking a Remelt Operator. This position supports safe, environmentally sound and efficient Hot Metal and Remelt operations by operating equipment, managing molten metal movement, supporting alloying and quality requirements, and maintaining production flow. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, dependable and comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-based manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations and accurately complete required records.
  • Forklift experience.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in manufacturing conditions that may range from below 50°F in winter to above 100°F in summer.
  • Ability to work rotating day and night shifts, weekends, overtime and holidays as scheduled or required.
  • Strong commitment to safe work practices, environmental compliance, housekeeping and operational discipline.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, work collaboratively and maintain attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to use or learn computer applications, including Microsoft Office and SAP.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior manufacturing, Hot Metal, Remelt, molten metal, aluminum or industrial experience.
  • Experience with mobile equipment, quality sampling, dross management, equipment inspections or production throughput.
  • Additional coursework or training in manufacturing operations, mobile equipment, logistics, quality or a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Transfer molten metal to holders in accordance with production targets and operating requirements.
  • Manage weighbelt speeds to optimize throughput and support consistent production flow.
  • Perform required sampling, alloying, skimming and process checks to support product quality and specifications.
  • Manage dross handling activities to reduce waste and meet applicable shipping and documentation requirements.
  • Operate qualified mobile equipment, including forklifts and skid steers, and perform equipment inspections before use.
  • Perform routine trough and impeller maintenance within assigned scope and qualification.
  • Identify and communicate equipment, material, quality or operating irregularities through the appropriate channels.
  • Maintain clean, orderly and PSEA-ready work areas while complying with Novelis safety, environmental and operating requirements.
  • Troubleshoot problems using lean systems, including A3 thinking, continuous improvement and root cause analysis.
  • Complete computer-based production records accurately, legibly and on time.
  • Coordinate daily activities with team members and leaders to support EHSQ, production and reliability objectives.
  • Perform other operational duties as assigned to support team and plant needs.
