About The Position

Great Southern Wood Preserving, Inc., maker of YellaWood® brand pressure-treated pine, is seeking a Reman General Laborer. The position builds material from a list prepared by the plant manager for shipment and affixes labels to packs of lumber. It is a full-time position offering competitive pay and a full benefits package. The employee must be able to read a tape measure. No prior experience or training is required; a high school diploma is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Observe all safety requirements, including wearing Personal Protective Equipment.
• Stack lumber or other wood products.
• Keep the reman area clean, including removing staples, cross-outs, and other damaged material.
• Load and unload lumber and timber from conveyors.
• Measure and mark cutting lines on lumber, timber, and finished goods.
• Maintain accurate records of job operations and up-to-date inventory.
• Dispose of waste materials properly upon completion of job operations.
• Sort and arrange lumber, timbers, and finished goods by size and grade for easy identification.
• Operate sawing equipment to make precise cuts.
• Use specialized equipment, such as dry kilns, to dry lumber effectively.
• Build material from a list prepared by the plant manager for shipment and affix labels to packs of lumber.
