About The Position

Great Southern Wood Preserving, Inc., makers of YellaWood brand pressure-treated pine, is seeking a Reman laborer. The position is responsible for building material from a list prepared by the plant manager for shipment and affixing labels to packs of lumber. This is a full-time position offering competitive pay and a full benefits package. Applicants must be able to read a tape measure. The role involves stacking, measuring, sorting, cutting, and moving lumber and other wood products; maintaining the reman area; keeping job-operation records and inventory current; and properly disposing of waste. The laborer observes safety requirements, including use of personal protective equipment, and may use sawing equipment and dry kilns.

Requirements

Must be able to read a tape measure.

Responsibilities

Observe all safety requirements, including the use of personal protective equipment.
Stack lumber or other wood products.
Keep the reman area clean, including removing staples, cross-outs, and damaged material.
Load and unload lumber and timber from conveyors.
Measure and indicate cutting lines on lumber, timber, and finished goods.
Maintain accurate records of job operations and up-to-date inventory.
Ensure proper disposal of waste materials when job operations are complete.
Sort and arrange lumber, timbers, and finished goods by size and grade for easy identification.
Operate sawing equipment to make precise cuts.
Use specialized equipment, such as dry kilns, to dry lumber effectively.
Build material for shipment from a list prepared by the plant manager and affix labels to lumber packs.
