About The Position

Vetco, a division of Petco, is seeking independent veterinary contractors to provide relief services at their Vaccination Clinics and Total Care Hospitals. This role offers significant career flexibility, allowing veterinarians to set their own rates and choose their shifts with no minimum or maximum requirements. Vetco aims to make high-quality veterinary care more accessible, and relief veterinarians are crucial to this mission. The appointment-based model and trained staff ensure efficient operations, allowing veterinarians to focus on patient care. Relief veterinarians will receive a monthly newsletter with updates and a 15% Petco discount.

Requirements

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine state license in good standing
Appropriate state-specific licensing to perform all shift functions including the ability to perform blood draws & administer vaccines
Ability to provide Professional Liability Insurance + license defense policy
Compliance with all local state and federal mandates

DEA in good standing preferred for full-service Vetco Total Care hospital relief shifts

Responsibilities

Perform wellness examinations, preventive vaccinations, and administer medications at Vetco Vaccination Clinics.
Conduct heartworm testing and microchip insertion at Vetco Vaccination Clinics.
Provide preventive care, diagnostic workups, outpatient surgeries, and dental procedures at Vetco Total Care Hospitals.
Partner with the area medical director to review case comfort levels before shifts at Vetco Total Care Hospitals.
Deliver the best care and patient experience possible.
