About The Position

Petco Veterinary Services offers relief veterinarians opportunities to work in Vetco Vaccination Clinics and Vetco Total Care full-service veterinary hospitals. The role provides flexible online scheduling with no minimum or maximum number of shifts, a variety of weekday and weekend hours, and the ability to set a rate for each shift. Veterinarians may continue practice activities outside Petco shifts, and there are no agency fees. An appointment-based model helps manage patient flow, while trained staff handle clinic operations so veterinarians can focus on patient care. Vetco Vaccination Clinics provide basic wellness checks, vaccinations, heartworm testing, and microchip placement; they do not provide surgery, emergency, or illness care. Vetco Total Care hospitals offer preventive care, diagnostic workups, outpatient surgery, and dental procedures, with trained hospital staff and no overnight or emergency on-call shifts.

Requirements

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree.
• State veterinary license in good standing.
• Appropriate state-specific licensing to perform all shift functions, including blood draws and vaccine administration.
• DEA registration in good standing for relief shifts at full-service Vetco Total Care hospitals.
• Professional liability insurance and a license defense policy.

Responsibilities

• Provide veterinary care during relief shifts at Vetco Vaccination Clinics or Vetco Total Care hospitals.
• At vaccination clinics, perform basic wellness checks, vaccinations, heartworm testing, and microchip placement.
• At full-service hospitals, provide services that may include preventive care, diagnostic workups, outpatient surgeries, and dental procedures.
• Comply with applicable local, state, and federal mandates.
