About The Position

Petco Veterinary Services offers relief veterinarians opportunities to work in Vetco Vaccination Clinics or Vetco Total Care full-service veterinary hospitals. The role provides flexible online scheduling with no minimum or maximum shift requirement, weekday and weekend shifts, and the ability to set a rate for each shift. Veterinarians may continue practice activities outside Petco shifts, with no agency fees. An appointment-based model helps manage patient flow and supports on-time departures. Trained, experienced staff handle operations so veterinarians can focus on patient care. The position may be at a vaccination clinic focused on wellness checks, vaccinations, heartworm testing, and microchip placement, or at a full-service hospital providing preventive care, diagnostic workups, outpatient surgeries, and dental procedures. Full-service hospitals have licensed and trained staff and do not require overnight or emergency on-call shifts.

Requirements

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine state license in good standing.
Appropriate state-specific licensing to perform all shift functions, including the ability to perform blood draws and administer vaccines.
DEA registration in good standing for relief shifts at full-service Vetco Total Care hospitals.
Ability to provide professional liability insurance and a license defense policy.
Compliance with all local, state, and federal mandates.

Responsibilities

Provide veterinary care during scheduled relief shifts at Vetco Vaccination Clinics or Vetco Total Care hospitals.
At vaccination clinics, provide basic wellness checks, vaccinations, heartworm testing, and microchip placement.
At full-service hospitals, provide services that may include preventive care, diagnostic workups, outpatient surgeries, and dental procedures.
Perform shift functions in accordance with applicable state, local, and federal requirements.
