About The Position

The Vacation Relief Person must know and understand every job in the butter and/or powder departments. Their hours may vary from day to day and their days off may vary from week to week. This role involves performing various jobs across all shifts as requested by the production supervisor, including sanitation, machine operation, churn operation, break relief, palletizing, evaporators, dryers, and rework. When not covering vacations, this person will work in the department as assigned. The position requires maintaining a clean and orderly work area, training new hires, notifying supervisors if standards are not met, and assisting with break and lunch relief. All work must be done in a timely and proper fashion, adhering to company policies such as Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Safe Quality Foods (SQF), and Safety Rules and procedures. The role also involves climbing stairs and ladders, working in confined spaces, and enduring temperatures ranging from 30 to 130 degrees Fahrenheit. Maintaining good working relationships, regular attendance, and accurate paperwork are essential. The employee is responsible for keeping floors, walls, machines, and pipes clean, and supporting SQF/QA, GMP, Safety policies, and production needs, with a strong emphasis on Food Safety and Quality.

  • Must have the ability to read and understand written and/or verbal instructions.
  • English is required as the written and spoken language.
  • Must possess or be able to acquire and maintain a forklift operator license.
  • Personal protective equipment, including but not limited to hearing protection, bump caps, hair and beard nets, gloves, and safety glasses must be used in the performance of duties.
  • Proper lifting techniques must be employed at all times.
  • General knowledge of manufacturing equipment and processes.
  • The use of non-slip footwear is necessary due to slippery and wet floors.
  • The use of rubber gloves is necessary to preform job functions.
  • Constantly subjected to moving mechanical parts.
  • On occasions will be subjected to chemicals including caustic, acid, and chlorine.
  • Employee will be subject to temperatures ranging from 30 degrees F to 130 degrees F.
  • Working area is noisy and may require that hearing protection be worn at all times.
  • May be required to enter a confined space.
  • Must be able to stand on feet for at least a two-hour consecutive time period and up to 8-12 hours.
  • Lifts up to 55 pounds on a repetitive basis.
  • Expected to carry 55 pounds on a repetitive basis.
  • Occasional lifting/carrying above 55 pounds may be required.
  • Frequently pushes and pulls up to, but not limited to, 55 pounds in a repetitive manner.
  • Will bend and stoop often.
  • Will sometimes squat.
  • Occasional kneeling/crawling may be required.
  • Will often twist and turn while carrying.
  • Will occasionally climb and/or balance.
  • Will frequently reach in a repetitive manner.
  • Will frequently grasp and manipulate in a repetitive manner.

Responsibilities

  • Perform jobs on all shifts as requested by the production supervisor, which may include: sanitation, machine operator, churn operator, break relief, palletizing, evaporators, dryers, rework, or other jobs that may be created in the production department.
  • When not covering vacations, this person will work in the department as assigned.
  • Responsible for maintaining a clean, orderly, and neat work area.
  • Responsible for training new hires and employees as needed.
  • Must notify supervisor in the event that standards are not met.
  • Assist with break and lunch relief as needed.
  • Responsible for all work being done in a timely fashion and done properly.
  • Follow all company Policies, such as but not limited to: Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) Safe Quality Foods (SQF), and Safety Rules and procedures.
  • Required to climb stairs, ladders and work in confined spaced.
  • Must have the ability to get along with co-workers, management personnel, customers, vendors, and employees in accordance with the company policies and working rules while ensuring a harmonious and conducive work environment.
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance at work.
  • Complete all paperwork neatly and correctly.
  • Responsible for keeping all floors, walls, machines, and pipes clean.
  • Support and enforce SQF / QA, GMP, Safety policies and procedures, and production needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
