About The Position

The Total Achievement Program (TAP) is a therapeutic after-school and summer program for youth ages 6 to 12 years old. TAP staff work closely with the youths’ families, schools, and community agency providers to support each client’s success as part of a comprehensive treatment team. This is a flexible, per diem position that offers a great opportunity for students in the psychology, counseling, and social work fields. The role involves conveying a passion for helping others by working with youth.

Requirements

• Must be 21 years of age.
• A High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Maintains valid driver’s license and appropriate driving record, as transporting youth is required.
• Background and driving record checks will be performed.

Nice To Haves

• Candidates who have experience working with latency age children or experience in behavior modification are preferred, but JRI is willing to train those skills!

Responsibilities

• Provide enriching daily activities for students such as arts and crafts, homework assistance, and recreational activities including offsite field trips.
• Create a safe and therapeutic community by working with youth to build positive peer relationships, manage behaviors in group settings, and develop effective coping strategies.
• Work as a member of a treatment team that provides group counseling, works with youth to set goals, and collaborates with youth’s support systems to develop treatment plans.
• Help youth discover what makes them feel competent and valued by supporting them in developing the social skills necessary to function at home and in the community.
• Support youth in developing a sense of self and provide them the skills to be successful in their next steps.
• Provide physical interventions and verbal de-escalations to provide the safest therapeutic atmosphere for our youth.
