About The Position

Community of Hope is seeking reliable, friendly, and professional Relief Resident Monitors to ensure the safety and welcoming atmosphere of their Short-Term Family Housing program. As essential staff, these individuals will be responsible for building security, greeting residents and visitors, and reporting any concerns to the appropriate team members. This role is crucial in supporting families and individuals in need of healthcare, housing, and community support services. The position can be located at any of the three Short Term Family sites in Southeast, Southwest, or Northwest DC. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Punctuality and reliability.
  • Ability to utilize computer software such as Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Google Mail.
  • Ability to act responsibly, professionally, and use good judgment under pressure.
  • Ability to write shift and incident reports in detail.
  • Ability to de-ice the front walkway by salting and shoveling the front area when inclement weather occurs.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule as designated by their supervisor, including evenings and weekends and at various Community of Sites.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor community areas (lobby, phone room, exterior) to prevent loitering and conduct building rounds.
  • Monitor security cameras for activity and address issues as needed.
  • Ensure visitors, volunteers, and agency representatives are signed in/out and document staff arrivals/departures in the shift log.
  • Check photo ID of all visitors.
  • Provide traffic control to limit lobby crowding.
  • Complete nightly curfew checks by knocking on unit doors and documenting resident presence, inquiring about children if not present.
  • Email or call Program Director and/or Case Manager regarding outside agency visits (Police, CFSA, Social Services, probation, parole, case workers).
  • Complete incident reports for unusual incidents (resident issues, facility issues, fire, rescue, emergencies) and email them immediately to the Program Director or On-Call Supervisor.
  • Offer additional assistance to residents as needed or requested, in accordance with ADA regulations, at all times and during emergencies.
  • Provide building access by screening individuals via the call button.
  • Process visitors by checking ID, signing them in, and contacting COH staff for escort.
  • Monitor Closed Circuit TV security footage and report/respond to security violations by notifying SPO and Program Director, and/or calling emergency services.
