About The Position

The Relief Pharmacist assists the Pharmacy Manager and the Staff Pharmacist in all aspects of Pharmacy Operations. This role involves ensuring an excellent patient experience, locating merchandise, and establishing strong working relationships with stakeholders. The pharmacist will accept and fill prescriptions accurately and safely, counsel patients, and ensure proper storage of pharmaceutical products. They will operate pharmacy equipment, maintain patient privacy, and follow provincial regulations. The role also includes ensuring patients receive eligible services like medication reviews and injections, adhering to Relief Pharmacist program regulations, and traveling to various locations as scheduled. Developing collaborative relationships with other healthcare providers within the store is also a key aspect of this position.

Requirements

  • Age - 16 or older
  • Pharmacist License
  • Secondary optional permit in Alberta: CA_APA - Additional Prescribing Authorization

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Pharmacy Manager and Staff Pharmacist in all aspects of Pharmacy Operations.
  • Ensure excellent patient experience.
  • Locate merchandise on the sales floor.
  • Establish and develop a strong working relationship with Professional Services District Managers and other stakeholders.
  • Accept prescriptions and/or refill requests from Customers, Doctors or Hospitals.
  • Ensure all prescriptions are filled accurately, efficiently, and safely using established workflow models.
  • Counsel all patients on sold pharmaceutical products.
  • Ensure proper storage of pharmaceutical products.
  • Execute processes as per OBWs/SOPs.
  • Operate all equipment in the pharmacy (register, computer system etc.).
  • Protect and maintain patient privacy at all times and follow provincial regulations established by the regulatory body.
  • Ensure patients receive all eligible services they are entitled to (medication reviews, injections etc.) to meet specific patient needs.
  • Follow OBW regulations as per the Relief Pharmacist program.
  • Travel to various locations and follow the schedules set by the Relief program coordinator.
  • Develop and establish collaborative relationships with other health care providers within the store (clinics, Vision Centre, their community etc.).
