About The Position

The Relief Pharmacist assists the Pharmacy Manager and the Staff Pharmacist in all aspects of Pharmacy Operations. This role involves ensuring an excellent patient experience, locating merchandise, and establishing strong working relationships with stakeholders. The Relief Pharmacist will accept prescriptions and/or refill requests, ensure prescriptions are filled accurately, efficiently, and safely, and counsel patients on pharmaceutical products. They will also ensure proper storage of pharmaceutical products, execute processes as per OBWs/SOPs, and operate all pharmacy equipment. Protecting patient privacy and following provincial regulations are crucial. The role also involves ensuring patients receive eligible services and adhering to OBW regulations for the Relief Pharmacist program. Travel to various locations and following schedules set by the Relief program coordinator is required. Developing collaborative relationships with other healthcare providers within the store is also a key responsibility.

Requirements

  • Age - 16 or older
  • Pharmacist License
  • Secondary optional permit in Alberta: CA_APA - Additional Prescribing Authorization

Responsibilities

  • Assists the Pharmacy Manager and the Staff Pharmacist in all aspects of Pharmacy Operations.
  • Ensure excellent patient experience.
  • Locate merchandise on the sales floor.
  • Establish and develop a strong working relationship with Professional Services District Managers and other stakeholders.
  • Accept prescriptions and/or refill requests from Customers, Doctors or Hospitals.
  • Ensure all prescriptions are filled accurately, efficiently, and safely using the established workflow models.
  • Counsel all patients on sold pharmaceutical products.
  • Ensure proper storage of pharmaceutical products.
  • Execute processes as per OBWs/SOPs.
  • Ability to operate all equipment in the pharmacy (register, computer system etc.).
  • Protect and maintain patient privacy at all times and follow provincial regulations established by the regulatory body.
  • Ensure patients receive all eligible services they are entitled to (medication reviews, injections etc.) to meet specific patient needs.
  • Follow OBW regulations as per the Relief Pharmacist program.
  • Travel to various locations and follow the schedules set by the Relief program coordinator.
  • Develop and establish a collaborative relationships with other health care providers within the store (clinics, Vision Centre, their community etc.).
