Relief Nursery Teacher (Bilingual English/Spanish)
About The Position
Family Building Blocks is seeking a compassionate and dedicated bilingual English/Spanish Relief Nursery Therapeutic Early Childhood Teacher at Doris's Place in Stayton, Oregon, serving children and families throughout surrounding communities. The teacher collaborates with a multidisciplinary teaching team to provide high-quality, research-based early childhood services that support young children's healthy development and strengthen family relationships. The role includes classroom teaching and activities, monitoring children's progress, conducting home visits, helping parents foster supportive home environments, and connecting families with community resources. The starting wage is $20.88 to $22.15 per hour, depending on experience. Employees who meet the bilingual language requirement are eligible for language differential pay. Requirements
- Meet one of the following education requirements: an associate degree (AA/AS) from an accredited institution in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field; Step 9 or higher on the Oregon Registry; or 15 quarter credits or 10 semester credits in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Elementary Education, or Special Education from an accredited institution, along with commitment to complete a professional development plan within the first year of employment.
- Fluency in English and Spanish, including effective verbal and written communication with children, families, community partners, and staff.
- At least six months of qualifying teaching experience in a certified childcare center or comparable group care setting serving infants, toddlers, or preschool-aged children.
- Ability to pass required background checks and pre-employment drug screening.
- Valid Oregon driver's license and an acceptable driving record.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and evaluate developmentally appropriate classroom activities and lesson plans.
- Create engaging learning environments that support children's social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development.
- Maintain classroom schedules, documentation, assessments, and referrals as needed.
- Use therapeutic and developmentally appropriate teaching strategies to promote skill development and school readiness.
- Monitor and assess children's progress and support transitions to preschool, Head Start, community childcare programs, and kindergarten.
- Conduct home visits to support families and strengthen parent-child relationships.
- Help parents build positive home environments that support children's physical, emotional, and developmental well-being.
- Connect families with community resources and support services when appropriate.
- Collaborate with colleagues, families, and partner agencies to provide comprehensive support for children and caregivers.
