Relief Host / Barman
About The Position
Kendrick Recruitment is seeking a confident, energetic, and guest-focused Relief Host/Barman for a luxury African safari lodge in the Greater Kruger, Mpumalanga. This role is for a hospitality professional who excels at creating memorable guest experiences and is comfortable with both hosting and bar service in a luxury safari setting. The successful candidate will support the lodge's daily operations and provide exceptional guest service, ensuring guests feel comfortable and well-cared for. Responsibilities include assisting with meal and beverage service, managing bar operations (preparing and serving drinks, maintaining stock, cleanliness), making beverage recommendations, assisting with guest activities and dining, building guest relationships, and providing personalized service. The role requires flexibility to assist in various lodge areas as needed, adaptability to changing operational demands, and comfort working in a remote safari environment.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a luxury lodge, hotel, safari camp, or high-end hospitality environment.
- Experience in both guest hosting and bartending is highly advantageous.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A warm, friendly, and naturally engaging personality.
- Strong knowledge of beverages, cocktails, and bar service.
- Excellent guest relations skills and a genuine passion for hospitality.
- Professional presentation and a positive, can-do attitude.
- Ability to work well under pressure and remain calm during busy periods.
- Strong attention to detail and consistently high service standards.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Flexibility to assist with various lodge duties when required.

Responsibilities
- Assist with the smooth day-to-day operation of the lodge.
- Provide exceptional service to guests.
- Welcome and host guests, ensuring their comfort and well-being.
- Assist with meal and beverage service, maintaining high standards.
- Manage bar service, including preparing and serving beverages and cocktails.
- Ensure the bar area is clean, organized, and fully stocked.
- Make informed recommendations to guests based on beverage knowledge.
- Assist with guest activities and dining experiences.
- Perform general lodge duties as required.
- Build strong relationships with guests and provide warm, personalized service.
- Assist across different areas of the lodge when needed.
- Ensure a seamless guest experience by working closely with the lodge team.
- Adapt quickly to changing operational requirements in a remote safari environment.
