About The Position

Mars Petcare is seeking a Reliability Technician for its facility in North Kansas City, Missouri. The role provides hands-on technical support and leadership on the production floor, building the team's maintenance capabilities, troubleshooting equipment, and advancing safety, quality, and efficiency targets. The technician performs repairs and preventive maintenance, improves equipment reliability, leads breakdown analysis and root-cause problem-solving, and trains other technicians. The position is on the night shift.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Previous maintenance experience or formal technical education.
• Fundamental understanding of electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems and schematics.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work rotating shifts.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in various physical conditions, including heat, cold, and heights.

Nice To Haves

• Technical degree in industrial maintenance or a related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in a manufacturing or technical environment, especially with Total Productive Maintenance (TPM).
• Demonstrated experience in a role focused on safety and quality.
• Military experience in mechanics, electronics, or operational discipline.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair routine electrical and mechanical issues on manufacturing equipment, including hydraulic, pneumatic, and drive systems.
• Perform and document mechanical and electrical preventive maintenance using SAP.
• Proactively identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability.
• Lead breakdown analysis and root-cause problem-solving to eliminate production losses.
• Help develop and execute continuous improvement standards, including CIL and Centerline.
• Train and mentor technicians to improve troubleshooting and repair skills.
• Uphold and promote plant safety and GMP requirements, including Lockout/Tagout and Confined Space procedures.
