About The Position

The Reliability Engineer provides subject matter expertise and direction for Pattern Energy’s operational fleet mechanical reliability and condition monitoring programs. The role requires detailed understanding of wind turbine mechanical systems and experience performing advanced vibration analysis. The Engineer monitors fleet systems daily, works with sites to optimize component remaining useful life, improves condition monitoring capabilities, investigates equipment failures, performs root cause assessments, and deploys solutions to improve component reliability. The role also provides technical guidance to operations teams and Original Equipment Manufacturers, supports reliable operation of wind turbines and solar assets, and applies current hardware, software, and analysis methodologies to condition-based and predictive maintenance. The position may involve fieldwork in challenging environments and travel of up to 20%.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or a similar engineering discipline.
  • At least 3–5 years of experience as a mechanical reliability engineer and/or vibration condition monitoring engineer in the wind industry.
  • Ability to climb modern wind turbines without a lift or climb assist.
  • Ability to perform advanced mathematical calculations, signal processing, and vibration-data analysis using industry vibration software.
  • Familiarity with programming in Python, R, MATLAB, or similar, and ability to apply that knowledge to improve fleet performance and reliability.
  • Knowledge of SCADA data and database and historian principles, including experience with Structured Query Language.
  • Ability to translate detailed vibration assessments into clear, actionable maintenance actions for operations teams.
  • Ability to communicate complex concepts simply and effectively.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering and construction plans, specifications, drawings, and related documents, including one-line, three-line, and wiring diagrams.
  • Ability to assess emergency situations and develop and implement appropriate action plans.
  • Ability to work around energized equipment while following proper lock-out, tag-out, and other safety procedures.
  • Ability to occasionally stand, sit, walk, kneel, twist, reach, and climb at project locations to inspect equipment or collect information.
  • Ability to travel up to 20%.
  • Strong technical capabilities and a creative, curious, self-driven work ethic.
  • Ability to work well in or lead cross-functional teams with little supervision or oversight.
  • Willingness to work in the field in challenging environments to collect data for root cause assessments or system studies.

Nice To Haves
