The Reliability Engineer Specialist is responsible for guaranteeing plant capacity by improving equipment reliability and functionality. This role involves utilizing and analyzing available data to determine the best actions to improve equipment mean time between failures and mean time to repair. The specialist will support the Maintenance Department for equipment installation and upgrades, track Key Performance Indicators, and utilize and improve computer management systems and preventative maintenance programs. A key responsibility is performing Failure Modes Effects Analysis (FMEA) on all critical equipment to enhance process quality, reliability, and safety. The role also includes analyzing equipment data to determine availability and reliability, providing troubleshooting support for equipment reliability issues, and designing out maintenance equipment reliability issues to reduce downtime. The specialist will perform purchasing for project components and materials, ensure Reliability Centered Maintenance through equipment upgrades and project implementation, and conduct research through documentation, technical resources, and suppliers. Developing PM programs and ensuring equipment is current with CMMS, including new/obsolete equipment, is also part of the role. The position provides input to strategic planning for maintenance operations and expenses, tracks equipment Mean Time to Repair and Mean Time Between Failures, and improves spare part management by collaborating with MRO buyers and suppliers. The role ensures the execution of scheduled and breakdown maintenance, including overhauling and equipment installation/removal. Safety is paramount, requiring immediate reporting of unsafe acts and conditions, and proactive involvement in improving working conditions and plant safety through the company's innovation process and team concept. The specialist will offer and implement ideas for system improvements, assist in achieving plant quality objectives, understand customer needs, and actively support the full implementation of 5S's. The role is located at the Elizabethtown, KY facility and may involve other duties as needed. Specific tasks to improve reliability include performing vibration analysis on press motors and gearboxes, oil analysis for hydraulic systems, thermography for electrical and mechanical components, monitoring tonnage curves and press loads, sensor-based monitoring (IoT), predictive analytics (AI-based failure prediction), ultrasound analysis, and non-destructive testing. The role requires utilizing and analyzing data from these analyses, including vibration analysis data (acceleration, velocity, displacement, frequency spectrum, time waveform signals, bearing defect frequencies, shaft speed, gear mesh frequency, high frequency, enveloping/demodulation), oil analysis for hydraulic systems (particle count, wear metal, water content, viscosity, total acid and base numbers, additive levels trend, contamination, wear/PQ index), hydraulic systems data, tonnage curves & press loads data, and thermography (electrical panels & drives) data. The specialist will use diagnostic & condition monitoring instruments such as vibration analysis tools, infrared cameras, oil sampling tools, electrical testing devices, alignment & precision measurement tools, tonnage monitoring/data tools, portable data collectors/IoT devices, ultrasonic detection tools, lubrication & inspection tools, and digital & software tools to assess and improve equipment reliability. Projects will focus on eliminating failures, improving equipment performance, implementing predictive maintenance strategies, and driving design improvements to increase reliability and reduce machine/manufacturing line downtime. The role also involves using the company's innovation process and team concept to improve plant safety.
