About The Position

The Reliability Electrician is responsible for maintaining and ensuring the capacity of equipment assets in assigned areas to achieve optimal efficiencies at the lowest reasonable cost. This role involves executing assigned tasks with a focus on safe work practices, high-quality, precision work, and customer service. The electrician will adhere to standards, share maintenance knowledge through mentoring, and provide feedback on job assignment needs and improvement opportunities. Key duties include maintaining manufacturing and support equipment, performing advanced troubleshooting and repairs, differentiating between cause types of issues, communicating findings, and updating electrical schematics. They will also execute and assist in developing proactive maintenance plans, including preventive and condition maintenance, and execute work orders for projects and process improvement efforts. This includes programming complex PLC and other operational equipment, and mentoring junior Reliability Electricians.

Requirements

  • Safety practices knowledge (LOTO, Confined Space, PPE, Hot Work, PIT, Fall Protection, Hoisting & Rigging).
  • Calculator and Computer application skills for work order documentation and parts requisitioning.
  • Proficiency in measurement units, techniques, and application of appropriate tools (Process Calibrators, oscilloscope, IR camera, data loggers).
  • Math skills including arithmetic, application of formulas (current, voltage), and conversion of measurement units.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical schematics/prints, and update electrical prints/schematics.
  • Identification and proper use of tools.
  • Working knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC).
  • Advanced understanding of e-stop systems.
  • Advanced troubleshooting of electrical components (PLC’s, AC & DC drives, relay logic, single loop controllers, pneumatics & hydraulics).
  • Ability to create advanced PLC systems and programs for process and operational control.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain manufacturing process and support equipment to highest, reasonable performance levels including electrical systems (MCC’s, inverters, motors, etc.) and control systems (PLC’s, robotics, automation equipment).
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting and lead repairs of equipment causing safety, quality, downtime, or productivity issues.
  • Differentiate between product, process, mechanical, and electrical contributors to issues and communicate findings.
  • Lead the design and implementation of correction steps for identified issues.
  • Verify, provide feedback, and update electrical schematics appropriately and in a timely manner.
  • Execute and assist in the development of proactive maintenance plans, including preventive and condition maintenance.
  • Execute assigned or scheduled work orders in support of projects and process improvement efforts.
  • Design, setup, and program complex PLC and other operational equipment.
  • Mentor Reliability Electrician II’s-IV’s in skill development and assist with oversight and management of projects and work assignments.
