About The Position

This role involves applying engineering and scientific principles to enhance the performance and sustainability of weapon systems for the Air Force and joint services. The engineer will support various stages of the system lifecycle, from initial analysis and design reviews to testing and integration of new hardware and software. A key focus is on developing and implementing an effective Reliability and Maintainability (R&M) process to ensure user requirements are met. Requirements

  • Understanding of DoD, AF, and common engineering/scientific principles, processes, and procedures.
  • Ability to assist in performing material solution analyses.
  • Ability to assist in producing or supporting development of draft documentation and presentation materials.
  • Ability to assist in developing and collecting technical data and inputs for staff summary packages and executive briefings.
  • Ability to assist in translating production and operational requirements into design, fabrication and testing objectives.
  • Ability to provide analysis and recommendations to systems suitability for installation, functionality and reliability of systems and readiness of existing manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to attend all technical reviews and provide technical advice on the path forward to installation of the new hardware and software into the system.
  • Ability to support and assist performance effectiveness, cost effectiveness, cost performance, life-cycle cost, producibility, maintainability, supportability, reliability, technical and schedule risk assessments, and scheduling trade-off studies.
  • Ability to review system specific test plans and participate in system, subsystem, and component testing.
  • Ability to assist in developing an effective Reliability and Maintainability (R&M) process that ensures the user’s weapon system R&M requirements are clearly defined and achieved with agreement by the mission partner in support of the user's requirements.
