About The Position

The Release Train Manager assists with and tracks release trains for IPA projects and coordinates requirements integration with dependent services from NGA and non-NGA segments, including GEOAXIS, the Open Data Store (ODS), and new Sensor program requirements. The work integrates requirements into operational and developmental workflows, identifies duplicative capabilities and efforts across IPA segments, and recommends efficiencies. The RTM team facilitates programmatic and defined requirements execution, removes impediments to flow, and manages risks and dependencies under AMT management and update cadences. At the Release Train level, the Release Manager aligns and captures project work that shares a business and technology mission, providing discrete, assessable information about a project value stream and its end-user benefits. The role supports IPA in accomplishing the work needed to define, implement, test, integrate, deploy, release, and operate solutions, including software, hardware, and firmware. It represents the Government Program, Project, and Segment Requirements Team at governance board meetings as requested; coordinates contractor and industry partner vendors, feature support engineers, and Product Owners; and ensures vendor work is recorded in JIRA and Confluence. The position maintains release train and cadence schedules under an overarching IPA Solution Train across multiple segments, coordinates dependencies with stakeholders and other offices, and synchronizes software requirements with related Release Trains within and outside NGA. It sets the pace for work throughout the Program Increment, coordinates Mission Owners, Product Owners, engineers, and developers around shared Program Epics, Features, and timelines, and implements and updates the Agile approval framework for Epics and Features. The manager also coordinates with other Release Train Engineers, monitors progress, identifies actual or potential roadblocks, and proposes solutions. This is a future/anticipated position based primarily in Springfield, Virginia, with meetings potentially in Chantilly. A TS/SCI clearance is required. The expected annual salary range is $160,000–$190,000; final salary depends on the candidate’s experience and alignment with the position requirements.
