About The Position

As a Release Manager, you are a release enabler for Docusign’s core services, coordinating cross‑team release activities across environments and products (e.g., eSign/Core, CLM, Rooms, IAM). You own the operational lifecycle of releases-from calendar planning and release readiness through execution, validation, and post‑release follow‑up-ensuring changes ship safely, predictably, and in compliance with Docusign’s change‑management and audit standards. You partner closely with Engineering, SRE, Docusign Operations Center, QA, Security, and Product to minimize release risk while improving velocity and automation, and you act as a primary contact for release status, blockers, and hot‑patch decisioning. This position is an individual contributor role reporting to the Director, Docusign Operations Center.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in Release Management, Program/Project Management, SRE/DevOps, or Technical Operations supporting production software releases
  • Experience managing multi‑environment release pipelines (e.g., dev, demo, production, regulated environments) with formal gates and approvals
  • Experience with Jira (or equivalent) for driving release epics/stories, change records, and cross‑team work tracking
  • Experience with CI/CD and deployment tooling such as Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GoCD, and related release automation pipelines
  • Experience with SDLC and change‑management controls (e.g., CAB, change types, rollback planning, audit evidence) in a SaaS or enterprise environment
  • Experience coordinating cross‑functional stakeholders (Engineering, SRE, DOC, QA, Security, Product) under time pressure and driving to clear decisions

Nice To Haves

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to summarize complex technical risk and status for non‑technical stakeholders
  • Experience running releases for large, distributed systems or multi‑product platforms
  • Experience with observability and validation tooling such as Kusto, Grafana, Zephyr, or equivalent for using data to make Go/No‑Go decisions
  • Familiarity with regulated or high‑compliance environments (e.g., USFED, IL4/IL5, ISO/SOC) and associated evidence expectations for releases
  • Background in or close partnership with operations/SRE teams, including exposure to incident response and post‑mortem practices
  • Experience contributing to or leading release‑process transformation efforts (e.g., Unified Release Management, increased automation, dashboarding and metrics)
  • Comfort working with SQL/DBA partners and understanding database deployment considerations as part of coordinated releases

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate release planning and calendars across CORE and CLM (and additional domains such as Rooms/Insight) including code‑freeze dates, QAR/UAT/Prod milestones, and No‑Fly windows
  • Run end‑to‑end release processes for eSign/Core monthly releases and weekly patches: track builds through TK, Stage, Demo, Prod, and USFED, and ensure all gates and approvals are met before promotion
  • Own and facilitate Go/No‑Go meetings for major releases: prepare status, verify test results, highlight risks, and formally record Go/No‑Go outcomes and required follow‑ups
  • Create and manage Release Authorizations (RA) and related artifacts (e.g., Jira RM tickets, DIRCA maintenance incidents, Zephyr or regression dashboards) to meet compliance and audit requirements
  • Coordinate UAT and Production release activities for CLM and other products: drive RM Jira epic/story creation, SQL review coordination with DBAs, TestInfra pre‑deployment automation, and DOC pre‑deployment steps
  • Partner with DOC to sequence and monitor deployments across regions and sites, ensure pre‑deployment checks are completed, and support troubleshooting of failed deployment jobs where RM is accountable (e.g., auth jobs, RA corrections/voids)
  • Enforce change‑management and business‑hours policies, including No‑Fly/moratorium periods, emergency change exceptions, and adherence to defined patch and hot‑patch criteria
  • Drive late‑merge and hot‑patch governance: validate justification against criteria, ensure CAB/Director approvals, and manage the “exception path” safely through the unified branching strategy
  • Maintain and improve release observability: partner with engineering/SRE to build and evolve RM dashboards, status views, and metrics that show release readiness, deployment progress, and risk across services and environments
  • Support post‑release quality by coordinating validation evidence (e.g., Sawmill, Zephyr, CLM testing spreadsheets) and ensuring it is attached to RAs and Jira tickets as required for compliance
  • Support root‑cause and post‑mortem work for release‑related incidents and deployment regressions, ensuring ownership is clear, documentation in DIRCA is complete, and corrective actions are tracked to closure
  • Act as a key stakeholder and driver for Unified Release Management (URM) initiatives, contributing requirements, feedback, and work‑items that improve automation, governance, and the release experience for internal teams and customers
  • Partner with Service Catalog owners and SRE to ensure service metadata needed for release governance (owners, on‑call, health dashboards, environments) is accurate and used consistently in release workflows
  • Communicate clearly and proactively: provide concise release status, risk, and impact summaries to engineering leaders, incident commanders, and DOC, and ensure release email updates and stakeholder notifications are timely and accurate
