About The Position

Power your future with Qualus in the Field Engineering department as a Relay Field Technician II. The role uses electrical theory and troubleshooting methods to apply test procedures for client protection and control systems and schemes. Work includes supporting acceptance testing and routine maintenance of transmission and distribution substation power equipment, relaying, pilot-channel equipment, controls, and communications equipment. The technician tests and verifies metering, calibrates relays, performs trip testing and end-to-end line relay system testing, and works with digital fault recorders and sequence-of-event recorders. The position also involves verifying communication circuits, interpreting design drawings and wiring AC and DC circuits, conducting IED testing manually and with automated test sets, troubleshooting test-result and inter-device communication issues, performing site safety inspections, and managing documents using various software platforms. The technician works in field environments and learns client switching procedures and safety measures under direct supervision.
