About The Position

This posting is for an 8-month Student Fall 2026 and Winter 2027 placement with a start date of September 8, 2026 and end-date of April 30, 2027. To be eligible, candidates must either be returning to school after April 2027 or require the work term as a mandatory component for graduation in December 2026/April 2027. The Relationship Manager Intern, Commercial Financial Service Internship focuses on building strong connections with prospects and clients by offering expert advice and solving complex business challenges. Comprehensive training will combine observation, self-study, and interactive courses. The role emphasizes professional relationship management and delivering top-tier financial advice, aligning sales, products, risk policy, and market strategies to provide tailored solutions. As a key member of a Client Relationship Team, the intern will collaborate with multiple partners to ensure an exceptional client experience, utilizing solution-development skills, business development acumen, and client service expertise.

Requirements

  • Pursuing Masters Level Degree in Risk, Finance and/or MBA; CPA, CFA and/or other relevant programs or certifications
  • Interest in business / Commercial Banking
  • Deep and proven client-centricity, business development, and relationship management excellence
  • Exceptional relationship management and people skills
  • New client acquisition skills (i.e., pitching the value proposition, lead generation, initial customer contact and cold calling, asking for referrals)
  • Experience with emerging communications and technology (i.e., web-based meetings, social media, Digital Banking and Mobile Applications)

Responsibilities

  • Gain business development experience for prospecting, and lead generation, for new and existing clients
  • Provide an exceptional client experience by delivering superior business and financial advice within a Client Relationship Team model
  • Collaborate and coordinate with a core group of expert advisors to create and execute a client contact strategy tailored to each client’s needs
  • Demonstrate portfolio management and risk mitigation through the review of financial statements identifying trends, monitoring risk, and assessing credit restructuring
  • Leverage the expertise of RBC by identifying referral opportunities, making introductions together with appropriate referrals to RBC partners
