Reinsurance Claim Specialist
About The Position
Reporting to the Manager, Ceded Claims, Reinsurance Services, the Reinsurance Claim Specialist is responsible for day-to-day reinsurance claim operations in North America. Ceded reinsurance billings are primarily proof billed, but all claims must be validated. The role focuses on timely billings and collection of loss balances, preparing accurate and complete billing packages, responding to reinsurer and broker inquiries, resolving disputed claims, and recommending compromises to maximize cash flow. The department provides business units and other constituencies with reliable and cost-effective processing and reporting services.
Requirements
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excel skills.
- Strong aptitude for mathematics.
- Proficiency in Microsoft applications, including Word, Access, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to collaborate with other units within the department and company, as well as with reinsurance partners.
Responsibilities
- Ensure claims are reported promptly and in accordance with reinsurance contract terms.
- Verify that billings are completed accurately and on time.
- Track, monitor, and collect open ceded loss recoverable balances.
- Report accurate billing and collection status as required.
- Manage SOX functions and internal and external audit testing.
- Support Chubb business units and interact with brokers and reinsurers.
- Proactively identify issues and recommend effective solutions.
- Assist with the monthly close process.
- Prepare accurate and complete billing packages, respond to reinsurer and broker inquiries, and resolve disputed claims.
- Provide recommendations on compromised claims with the goal of maximizing cash flow.
