About The Position

This job ad is for a talent pool for future Reinsurance Accountant opportunities at PartnerRe in Toronto and Dublin. The Reinsurance Accounting Department is responsible for handling premiums and claims accounts received from reinsurance brokers and cedents. Compensation details will be provided in future job ads. This role involves managing an assigned broker/cedent insurance/reinsurance facultative and treaty portfolio, which will be verified, processed, monitored, and analyzed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or relevant discipline.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in Reinsurance accounting field.
  • Good technical and analytical skills, problem solving oriented and able to take decisions.
  • Proficiency in Excel and MS Office.
  • Fluent in English (both written and spoken).

Nice To Haves

  • CA/ARe/CPA/CFA certification is a plus.
  • Experienced in eMessaging (electronic messaging) and the reinsurance data system SICS is a plus.
  • Other languages are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, verify, and process regular accounts, commutation accounts, cash losses, profit & loss calculations as well as year-end related documents against treaty terms and contractual conditions.
  • Cedant premium and loss reserve handling, cedant statistic analysis and Letter of Credit & Pledged Securities handling.
  • Monitoring and managing of cash statements including confirmation letters as well as active communication with brokers and cedants.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams.
  • Electronic messaging management and archiving of accounting relevant documents.
  • Performing periodic SOX- and operational controls and assuring correctness of quarterly closing tasks as assigned.
