About The Position

The Reimbursement Specialist performs moderately complex medical billing and accounts receivable follow-up. The role works under moderate supervision, with considerable latitude to use initiative and independent judgment. It communicates with peers, consumers, and management about insurance and claims issues and may provide backup in other billing areas or take on other duties as requested by a supervisor.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Two years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Knowledge of billing and coding requirements and insurance industry standards.
• Knowledge of insurance benefits and primary and secondary billing requirements.
• Proficiency with claims clearinghouse processes.
• Proficiency in billing guidelines, claims processing standards, and denials management.
• Good communication skills; organization; self-motivation; and ability to complete assigned duties in a timely manner.
• Knowledge of MS Word, Excel, medical practice management systems, and computer operations.
• Valid Texas driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

• At least three years of billing experience.
• CPB or CPC certification.

Responsibilities

• Batch and submit claims to multiple insurance companies.
• Post payments and track reimbursement.
• Enter EOB correspondence, payments, and denials in the EHR system.
• Rework rejections; conduct reconsiderations and appeals; submit medical records; and reconcile issues with insurance companies.
• Apply knowledge of dual coverage plans to ensure accurate billing.
• Use EHR reports to monitor claims and accounts receivable in alignment with KPIs.
• Communicate with peers, consumers, and management regarding insurance or claims issues.
• Assist with or serve as backup in any billing area and perform other duties as requested by the supervisor.
