About The Position

Under the direction of the Reimbursement Supervisor, this position is responsible for the billing and accounting for revenues generated in accounts receivable for the agency. Duties include updating accounts on the computer system, monitoring accounts for problems, errors, or delinquencies and resolving them appropriately, obtaining and following up for authorizations, and answering questions from consumers, staff, insurance companies, third-party payers, and other provider agencies. This role is responsible for carrying out all activities of the department in a manner that fulfills CMHA-CEI’s mission, policies, and procedures.

Requirements

  • Possession of a High school diploma or GED
  • One year experience billing third party insurance and first party private insurance using an automated billing system
  • Insurance billing experience includes: Fee-for-service Medicaid billing, Medicare Part B billing, commercial insurance for medical billing, follow-up with rejections, monitoring accounts receivable claims, fee statements, monitoring spend downs
  • Full Microsoft Office Suite proficiency
  • Strong knowledge of medical billing processes, payer rules, and reimbursement methodologies, including Medicaid/Medicare and commercial insurance
  • Understanding of accounts receivable management, payment posting, and reconciliation procedures
  • Familiarity with payer rejections, denials management, and claims resubmission processes
  • Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR), practice management systems, and billing software
  • Ability to pass a Microsoft Word and Excel exam with a proficient score
  • Working knowledge of Windows based spreadsheets
  • Proficiency in using CPT, DSM-5 and ICD-10 coding
  • Ability to analyze an abundance of data and make decisions accordingly
  • Ability to enter large amounts of data into the computer system with speed and accuracy
  • Ability to complete assignments within structured timelines
  • Pass a background verification and credentialing procedure consisting of: Michigan State Police clearance check, educational background check, and verification of an acceptable work history
  • Pass a pre-employment 5-panel drug screen
