About The Position

The Rehabilitation Specialist provides direct care in Sheppard Pratt’s Psychiatric Rehabilitation Day Program in Gaithersburg, Maryland. Under general supervision, the role supports mental health treatment by maintaining a safe, therapeutic environment that promotes clients’ independence and wellbeing. The specialist works one-on-one with clients to build or regain skills for community and independent living and socialization, supports medication compliance, collaborates on individual service plans, and provides transportation and advocacy at medical appointments. Direct care staff receive thorough training and ongoing mentorship from senior staff.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Willingness to obtain additional certifications and training as required.
Driver’s license with 3 points or less.
Access to an insured vehicle.
Availability to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays depending on program needs.

Bachelor’s degree in a related field.

Responsibilities

Work one-on-one with clients to help them learn or regain skills for community and independent living and socialization.
Ensure medication compliance, including attention to safety, dosage, and cleanliness.
Collaborate with the service team to develop and implement individual service plans.
Transport clients to and attend their medical appointments.
Advocate for clients during appointments and document and/or follow through on instructions afterward.
Provide support in a safe and therapeutic environment that encourages client independence and wellbeing.
