About The Position

This is a direct care opportunity to provide support for mental health treatment within the Crisis Residential Program. The program provides short-term intensive, round-the-clock, personalized support to help stabilize individuals experiencing a mental health crisis, aiming to prevent hospitalization. The role involves creating a safe and therapeutic environment that fosters client independence and well-being. Staff collaborate with existing providers and connect clients to Sheppard Pratt services or other community resources. All direct care staff receive thorough training and ongoing mentorship from senior staff.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Willingness to obtain additional certifications and trainings as required.
  • A driver's license with 3-points or less.
  • Access to an insured vehicle.
  • Availability to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays depending upon program needs.

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a residential counselor, working one-on-one with clients to develop or regain skills for community living, independent living, and socialization.
  • Ensure medication compliance, including responsibility for safety, dosage, and cleanliness.
  • Collaborate with a service team to develop and implement individual service plans.
  • Provide transportation for clients and attend their medical appointments, offering advocacy services and ensuring documentation and follow-through of all instructions.
