About The Position

The Rehabilitation Counselor works in Scotland County, Laurinburg, at a satellite office of the Lumberton unit office. The position is third-party funded and covers a transition and school caseload with the Scotland County public school system. Its primary purpose is to help individuals with disabilities achieve career and independent-living goals through counseling, individualized planning, and coordinated services that help clients address disability-related barriers and obtain and maintain gainful employment.

Requirements

Master’s degree in rehabilitation counseling from an appropriately accredited institution; or a Master’s degree in a related human services field from an appropriately accredited institution; or current certification as a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor by the Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification.

Responsibilities

Evaluate professional diagnostic data to determine eligibility and required rehabilitation services.
Develop a written plan of services in conjunction with the consumer, parent, and/or guardian.
Provide rehabilitation services through a guidance and counseling relationship, including supportive counseling.
Monitor the consumer's progress throughout the service-delivery process.
Work directly with community partners to help individuals with disabilities become suitably employed.
Document service delivery and case progress in the case-management system as required by agency policy.
