About The Position

The Maine Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR) seeks a candidate for a full-time Rehabilitation Consultant. The individual hired will be based out of DVR’s Central Office in Augusta. DVR supports individuals across the state with various disabilities to reach their employment goals. These positions are critical to the success of that mission and field services. This position represents BRS in a variety of committees and meetings and works closely with various partners.

Requirements

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, individuals with disabilities, families, providers, schools, and employers.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing in English.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Experience using technology to deliver training and services.
  • Flexibility and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent prioritization, organization, and time management skills.
  • Detailed documentation, analysis, and report writing.
  • A Masters Degree in one of the Social/Behavioral Sciences or Public Administration and two (2) years experience in the rehabilitation of the disabled. Equivalent related experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.

  • Master’s Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling and current C.R.C. status.

Responsibilities

  • Designs, develops, and implements quality assurance systems in order to monitor and assess current programs and develop recommendations for program improvements.
  • Compiles, analyzes, and updates information concerning agency policies, procedures, resources, and agreements in order to determine impact of changes and ensure continued currency and relevancy.
  • Advises the Director on specific program areas, service delivery, administrative priorities, and the disposition of grant and contract funds in order to provide program information.
  • Develops materials for planning and provides technical assistance in order to improve administrative, planning, and development efforts.
  • Plans, coordinates, conducts, and assesses staff training activities in order to ensure effective staff development.
  • Collaborates with other agencies in order to identify resources and meet the needs of persons with disabilities.
  • Designs and develops new program delivery approaches and changes in existing delivery methods in order to improve and expand present and proposed client services.
  • Prepares grant applications, develops and administers grants and contracts, and conducts on-site inspections of contractual services providers in order to ensure grants and contracts are properly carried out.
  • Advises community groups, public and private agencies, and other officials in order to develop rehabilitation programs.
