About The Position

This Rehabilitation Assistant position at Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is located at Lions Gate Hospital (LGH) in North Vancouver. LGH is one of the 4 busiest hospitals in Vancouver and a Neurosurgery center in British Columbia. The role functions under the operational supervision of the Program Manager and practice supervision of Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy Practice Coordinators, working under the direction of designated occupational therapists and physiotherapists. Requirements

  • Completion of a recognized Rehabilitation Assistant Program
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to deal with others effectively
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position
  • Ability to organize work
  • Ability to operate related equipment

Responsibilities

  • Receiving assignments and implementing lower risk interventions related to the clinical aspects of OT/PT care plans
  • Demonstrating and teaching activities
  • Adapting devices to enable patients/clients/residents to maximize their potential for independence
  • Providing functional direction to patient/client/residents and family
  • Assisting with practicing daily living skills
  • Reporting relevant observations of patient/client/resident progress and behaviours
  • Providing direction to volunteers
  • Organizing and cleaning equipment and supplies for activities
  • Maintaining established inventory of supplies
