The Rehabilitation Aide assists with providing therapeutic services, related clinical activities and maintaining the orderly function of the department. Assists the therapists and therapy assistants in providing safe, effective and quality therapeutic interventions for patients taking into consideration the patient's age and developmental level. Performs delegated, selected tasks in specific situations under the direction of an occupational/physical therapist, and/or speech-language pathologist. The Rehabilitation Aide Transports patients to and from therapy areas using proper body mechanics and safe handling techniques, including wheelchairs, stretchers, and transfer equipment. Performs patient transfers under supervision, ensuring safety, proper use of assistive devices, and preservation of patient dignity. Prepares and maintains treatment areas, including gym spaces, patient rooms, and hydrotherapy areas, ensuring cleanliness and adherence to infection control standards. Cleans and maintains equipment according to safety, infection control, and regulatory guidelines. Maintains departmental supplies and ensures a safe, neat, and orderly environment. Performs basic clerical functions including answering phones, scheduling, filing, data entry, and charge entry and verification. Coordinates and communicates effectively with patients, families, therapists, and other healthcare team members to support efficient clinical operations. Participates in performance improvement activities, departmental initiatives, and data collection efforts. Attends in-services, departmental meetings, and training to maintain competencies and support professional development. Assists with onboarding and orientation of new rehabilitation aides as needed.
