About The Position

Works under the direct, on-premises supervision of a licensed physical or occupational therapist. Following detailed instructions, completed competencies, and applicable policies and procedures, the Rehab Technician provides assigned therapeutic modality treatments, prepares therapy areas and patients for treatment, and transports patients using wheelchairs and stretchers. The role also maintains equipment and the work environment to ensure they are clean, operational, and safe, and performs isolation techniques in accordance with Infection Control policy. The position requires compliance with applicable laws, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements, as well as the employer’s Compliance & Privacy Program and Standards of Conduct. It involves routine exposure to blood, body fluids, tissue, communicable diseases, and potentially hazardous medications or waste in a healthcare setting. The role is classified as very heavy work, with substantial exertion requirements.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications.
Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present information clearly and professionally to people at varying levels throughout the patient-care process.
Ability to travel throughout and between facilities.
Ability to meet the physical demands of very heavy work, including exerting more than 100 pounds of force occasionally, more than 50 pounds frequently, and more than 20 pounds constantly to move objects.

Nice To Haves

Some college coursework in healthcare sciences.
Five years of relevant experience or pursuing education in a clinical program.

Responsibilities

Prepare and maintain treatment work areas, including ordering supplies, linen, and pharmaceuticals.
Orient and mentor new staff in the needs of the assigned area.
Monitor and assist with patient care as specifically instructed by the therapist and in accordance with completed competencies.
Assist with general office and front desk procedures.
Transport patients to and from the department or room by wheelchair or stretcher, as directed by professional staff, safely and courteously.
Adapt behavior to the needs of the patient population, including respecting privacy, introducing oneself appropriately, explaining services or procedures, requesting permission, and adapting communication style.
Maintain equipment and the environment so they are clean, operational, and safe.
Perform assigned therapeutic modality treatments and prepare therapy areas and patients for treatment under therapist supervision.
Perform isolation techniques in accordance with Infection Control policy.
Remain knowledgeable about applicable laws, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements, and ensure compliance.
Report known or suspected unethical or questionable conduct, patient or employee safety concerns, patient privacy concerns, and other compliance-related concerns.
Perform other related duties as required.
