About The Position

The CHI Health Rehabilitation Care Aquatic Physical Therapy program offers individual treatment sessions with a physical therapist skilled in utilizing the unique properties of warm water to promote faster recovery from injury, illness, surgery or chronic conditions. Supported by the buoyancy of the 90-93 degree water, patients are able to perform therapies that increase strength and muscle tone, range of motion and mobility; all while decreasing pain and improving overall well being.

Requirements

  • Nebraska Swimming Pool Operator License within 90 Days of start date
  • Basic Life Support (Basic Life Support) through the American Heart Association before start date

Responsibilities

  • Lead exercise groups according to established protocols.
  • Assist with treatment programs for patients.
  • Set up necessary treatment equipment.
  • Carry out routine or assist with complex treatments.
  • Maintain the department in a clean orderly condition.
  • Participate toward the achievement of mission goals.
  • Provide set up and supervision for routine treatments such as gait training, exercise and the application of hot and cold packs.
  • Observe patients during treatments and notify Therapist of any physical distress or equipment malfunctioning.
  • Prepare/position patient for a treatment or evaluation.
  • Obtain necessary equipment, materials and supplies from storage areas and prepare them for use.
  • Assist therapist in treatment regimen as needed.
  • Lead water exercise programs for the community according to established guidelines and supervise open pool program.
  • Perform clerical functions to include: class and patient registration, scheduling, charge entry, faxing, photocopying and delivery of therapy notes/records to the appropriate physician(s) or other hospital personnel.
  • Periodically inventory supplies.
  • Assist with ordering, stocking and cleaning of departmental equipment and supplies.
  • Maintain water chemistry and pool surroundings.
  • Maintain established department policies, procedures, and objectives, concerning quality assurance, safety, environmental conditions and infection control.
  • Participate in all safety, security and infection control programs that are mandatory as well as those required and provided by the department.
