About The Position

Integrated Care Solutions NRIO, a division of Bayshore HealthCare, offers community-minded, progressive brain injury rehabilitation focused on empowering individuals to enhance their quality of life. They utilize a person-and family-centered care (PFCC) approach, ensuring respectful, compassionate, and culturally safe care. This role is based in Mississauga, ON, providing supervision, personal care, and rehabilitation support to individuals with acquired brain injuries (ABIs) in a residential setting. The position also involves caring for individuals in the Complex Care Program who require total-care support. Shifts may include full-duty and sleep-shifts, with a reduced wage for sleep-shifts. This is a casual position with fluctuating hours based on client census.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary studies in social sciences or healthcare related areas
  • PSW certification and experience is an asset
  • G driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract, access to a vehicle and the proper insurance to transport clients in your own vehicle is required (you will be transporting clients within the community)
  • Availability to work on weekends, days, evenings, occasional overnights and some holidays
  • Conflict resolution skills and ability to work with clients and team members toward solutions; addressing issues such as verbal aggression, physical and environmental aggression, elopement, socially and sexually inappropriate behaviours
  • Ability to problem-solve/handle difficult situations in an objective consistent manner
  • Ability to work independently and effectively collaborate with a team
  • Ability to be self-directed and take direction
  • Willingness and ability to perform: personal care tasks medication assistance, assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs), administrative tasks, light cleaning, advocacy, and clinical therapy implementation
  • Enjoy dealing with people and working in a fast-paced customer service environment
  • Strong communication (oral and written) skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Ability to perform bending, stretching and lifting while assisting clients
  • Ability to be organized and able to complete tasks within allocated time frames
  • Demonstrated knowledge of personal computers and proficiency with secure email
  • Commitment to continual learning, upgrading and enhancing skills

Responsibilities

  • Work with individuals with acquired brain injuries while assisting them with increasing levels of independence through individualized rehabilitation programs (responsible for up to 5 clients at a particular time)
  • Perform personal care (e.g. bed-baths, dressing, oral care) medication management, and various forms of transfer tasks
  • Utilize appropriate Crisis and Behavioural Management strategies
  • Complete documentation following company and provincial guidelines
  • Follow the designed rehabilitation program as accurately as possible
  • Collect required clinical data through documentation, tracking, etc.
  • Complete research to assist with enhancing client programs
  • Other clinical and administrative duties as assigned
  • Housekeeping duties as assigned
